MD World Class Consortia to Hold LEAN Workshop

The Maryland World Class Consortia will hold a one-day LEAN Overview Workshop on January 26, 2017, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Mount St. Mary's University in Frederick, Maryland.
This workshop will be a basic introduction to LEAN principles and tools.  For people just getting started with LEAN, or for organizations who are ramping up on their LEAN journeys, this workshop is a must!
Participants will learn:
--The background and definition of LEAN Thinking
--Key principles of the LEAN philosophy
--The Eight Types of Waste found in all business processes
--An overview of Value Stream Mapping, the tool used to find waste ad plan improvement opportunities
--The common tools of LEAN process improvement, including standard work, 5S and visual management, kanban and pull systems,
   rapid changeover, cellular processing, and others
--An introduction to continuous improvement (kaizen) and kaizen concepts
--A description of the keys to success with LEAN Thinking
--Advice on getting started and first steps
Each workshop includes a hands-on learning activity that helps solidify understanding of LEAN principles and tools.
This workshop is suitable for everyone: front-line and management, manufacturers and knowledge workers, supervisors and senior executives, private sector or government.  No prior exposure to LEAN is necessary!

The cost of the workshop is $450 for the general public and $250 for MWCC members and their employees.
